Premier Chardonnay
Wine
Rochford Premier Chardonnay draws from a single block of the Swallowfield Vineyard at Gembrook in the Upper Yarra Valley. It is situated on quartz rich soils on a granite outcrop, perfect for growing Chardonnay.
The fruit is hand harvested, crushed and pressed with full solids straight to French oak. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place naturally. After ageing for 10 months barrel, the wine is racked off lees in preparation for bottling.
Straw yellow, Rochford Premier Chardonnay's assertive fruit core extends down a fine, chalky spine, with a glossy mouthfeel and energetic acidity. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
